Dental crowns in Málaga

The fit of the margin is what decides how long they last.

When a crown is needed

When a tooth has lost so much structure that a filling no longer holds it: large fractures, extensive decay, or weakened root-treated teeth. The crown wraps the tooth and spreads the whole load of the bite across it.

Where it really fails

At the margin, nearly always. The smallest step between crown and tooth gathers plaque, inflames the gum and eventually produces decay underneath. That is why intraoral scanning was a real improvement over the putty impression.

Before recommending a crown we consider whether a partial adhesive restoration would save more tooth.

  • Metal-free

Zirconia or porcelain: biocompatible, without the dark gumline of old crowns.

  • Natural look

Colour and shape designed to fit you, not a standard mould.

  • Restores function

Gives the tooth back its normal biting and chewing capacity.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions about this treatment

01 Crown or veneer?

A veneer covers only the visible face and keeps more of the healthy tooth: it's the option when the problem is cosmetic and the tooth is healthy. A crown covers the whole tooth and is used when there is significant damage, a previous root canal or a fracture.

02 What are crowns made of?

We work metal-free: monolithic zirconia or porcelain, depending on the case. Both are biocompatible and natural-looking.

03 How long does a dental crown last?

With proper hygiene and periodic check-ups, many years. Wear from uncontrolled bruxism is the most common reason its lifespan shortens.

04 Does preparing the tooth hurt?

It's done under local anaesthetic. Recovery is usually mild, with some sensitivity in the first few days.
